Green UPDate is an environmental knowledge portal for UP Diliman. It brings environmental data, research, initiatives, and expert resources into one digital platform.
The project was developed for the UP Diliman Environmental Management Office (UP DEMO). It supports the collection, organization, discovery, and sharing of information about the campus environment.
The platform has three main parts: an interactive environmental map, a research repository, and an environmental expert directory.
The goal is simple: make environmental information easier to find, understand, and use.
An interactive map of the campus environment
The environmental map is the main spatial interface of Green UPDate.
Users can explore UP Diliman through different environmental and spatial datasets. The map can show building footprints, built-up areas, green spaces, land-use classifications, and environmental information such as air temperature and heat index.
The map also connects spatial information with other parts of the portal. A location can provide access to related research, experts, and other information.
The interface is designed for exploration. Users can search for places, buildings, academic units, topics, and environmental information without needing to work directly with GIS software.
The map also provides local spatial context around selected locations. For example, users can examine the mix of built and green areas around a selected place.
Research Repository
Environmental knowledge is not only spatial.
Green UPDate provides a dedicated research area for studies and other knowledge products related to the UP Diliman campus environment.
Users can discover studies, reports, theses, publications, projects, programs, tools, methods, and educational materials.
Research is organized by environmental themes such as:
- Built and spatial environment
- Environmental and ecological systems
- Social, cultural, and institutional dimensions
- Policy, governance, and institutional management
- Tools, methods, education, and innovation
This creates a shared place where campus environmental research can be discovered and connected to other information.
Environmental expert directory
The expert directory helps users find people and organizations with knowledge related to the UP Diliman environment.
Users can browse experts based on their areas of knowledge and institutional affiliations.
The directory can help users find potential resource persons for technical guidance, research collaboration, consultation, speaking engagements, and information exchange.
It also connects expertise with the wider knowledge system of the portal.
